Resumen
Purpose: To determine the effects of monovision on the binocular vision of presbyopic patients as reported in the literature in the last 10 years. Method: Information was compiled looking for words related to the study in the Mesh and Decs that are in the virtual library in health, these words are: contact lenses, binocular vision, presbyopia, myopia, hiperopyc, and stereopsis. For the search
of the bibliographic documents several documentary sources were used, such as: Bireme, Sciencedirect, Ebsco, Embase, Pubmed-medline, Lilacs, Thomson Reuters, Scielo, and Elsevier, in them we used search equations such as: monovision AND contact lenses, monovision AND presbyopya, monovision AND presbyopya AND binocular vision, monovision AND presbyopia
AND stereopsis, among others. We selected documents published in the last 10 years, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, which were carried out in humans and with the design of an experimental study. Only quality articles were included. CONSORT and PRISMA will be used for the evaluation of the same.
Results: Of the articles selected and evaluated with their corresponding checklist, it was evidenced that monovision decreases stereopsis, but at the monocular level it manages good visual acuity and sensitivity to contrast.
