Evaluación del potencial de captura de carbono por la palma de aceite (Elaeis sp), en la finca potrero chico, Paratebueno-Cundinamarca.

Abstract

The increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the atmosphere is related to anthropic activities and natural processes. In the present study, the CO2 fixation potential of the oil palm (Elaeis sp), in one hectare, was estimated, which was performed using the i-Tree Eco software and the allometric equation yielding results of 12129.12; and 4549.56 Kg of CO2 respectively. For this, variables such as age, diameter, height, among others, were taken into account. Additionally, the productive processes and the edaphoclimatic conditions of the crop were characterized, and finally, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) strategies were proposed that maximize the potential for its and counteract the increase in these concentrations.
