Resumen
Within the many facets that identify these eight hundred years of activity of the friars of the Order of Preachers in the world, education could not be anything but special. And it is that the Dominicans, either in their formative stage or in the day to day of their missionary exercise, live in pursuit of learning and teaching, operations naturalized in Dominican life from the will of their founder, when they merged as a part constitutive of his vocation, the assiduous and scientific study of the truth with a decided apostolic purpose. In this way, study and teaching have been strongly anchored to the charism of the community and its historical actions.
As the variety of research done for this volume shows, philosophy and the examination of social reality as forms of inquiry into truth have been channeled into multiple educational experiences. Already of doors inside, with contemplation
and the meditation of the word in the conventual studies, already in the face of society, in universities and colleges placed at the service of several generations of students, the Dominicans have assumed the ironclad defense of the bastions of an intellectual and spiritual tradition that with great devotion they have insisted on overturning in the classrooms and in the texts.
