The monograph aims to carry out a theoretical review of the improvement of complex clay soils in Colombia, with the use of recycled materials used in civil engineering and in general, in the same way indicate the applications of different recyclable materials, for the improvement of clay soil to starting from the technical concepts, the physical and mechanical properties and with this relate the viability of the different applications in terms of the implementation of clay soils generating different recommendations from the theoretical-technical point of view for not only the development but also adequate of the application in civil engineering.
Different applications are evidenced in the field of recyclable materials such as the use of plastics such as PET, geotextiles and construction waste materials mainly, however, industrial waste materials such as rice husks, oily sludge, crushed rubber are also evidenced., among others. Which are analysed from the characterization of mechanical properties showing the comparative behaviour of soils with the use of clay materials and not.
In this way, it is concluded, in turn, that different basic tests are necessary for all applications that allow the development of different investigations, as well as the need to take into account the current regulations for acceptance of soils, but with this, also the regulations that have to do with the use and disposal of the different materials that were taken into account throughout the review.
