Resumen
Currently, there is uncertainty regarding the Prior Consultation, since there is a great lack of knowledge among the actors involved about the process that must be carried out to carry out this consultation correctly. That is why, it follows that the error that the Prior Consultation is mostly failed or is not identified for what it really is, is the lack of communication and in turn the lack of pedagogy and knowledge that allows indigenous peoples know their rights and appropriate them, especially the right to prior consultation. In accordance with the foregoing, this research aims to analyze the importance and role of communication in the practice of Free, Prior and Informed Consultation processes. Likewise, the aim is to identify the perspective of communication-education, in order to strengthen the Prior Consultation process and to identify that the role of these two pillars is crucial to carry out a process like this one. Analyze the role of communication in strengthening the prior, free and informed consultation processes that are being carried out with the indigenous peoples of Colombia.
