Resumen
The wetlands are considered worldwide as strategic ecosystems for the different environmental services they provide. Some of them are recognized trough convention of RAMSAR, which stablish 9 criteria for their identification and subsequent protection;
Colombia, since 1997 adopted the agreement through the law 357/1997 and in 2002 established the national policy of wetlands trough the agreement 1672/2002 which establishes that territorial entities and the environmental authorities belong the
responsibility of make control, surveillance, identification, delimitation and declaration of these areas of environmental interest. Despite the importance of these ecosystems and their recognition as figures of “protected areas” declared by the SNAP. Most are being threatened by different human activities, ranging from deforestation to urban development, these activities are mainly due to the ignorance of the society in the ecological importance of the goods and services they provide and the disorderly growth of the cities as consequence of lack of planning and application of environmental normativity, impacting but not in the desire way, ending in process of degradation of theses ecosystems. As is the case of Kirpas-pinilla-la cuerera wetland from the city of Villavicencio; being one of the most representative for the city, nowadays is at risk of disappear by lack of specific actions that allow its ecological and environmental restauration.
