Abstract

Meta Department has been gradually recovering its economic activity after the oil crisis that happened by the fall in international oil prices, as this region of the country has been characterized by the hydrocarbons monoexportation since its peak in the international market. Due to this, producers and entrepreneurs have found opportunities in other sectors such as agriculture and food processing, but they have also had many difficulties when it comes to internationalizing their products, as many entrepreneurs are unaware of the requirements and the process to make successful exports, therefore, there is a good supply of novel and potential products for foreign markets, but with low levels of competitiveness.

Meta Government, through the Technical Cooperation Office and specifically from its internationalization area, has detected this problem and therefore alliances have been initiated with strong national institutions in the field of foreign trade, such as PROCOLOMBIA and the different Chambers of Commerce that exist in the territory. Similarly, it has begun to build links with the Academy through some important universities in the capital of Meta and that offer economic programs, such as the Universidad Santo Tomás, Universidad de los Llanos, Corporación Universitaria del Meta, among others.

The objective is to strengthen the business community with the purpose of increasing the competitiveness of the Department and promoting its internationalization. This paper will explain the support given to the projects of the internationalization area inside Technical Cooperation Office for the 2018-2 period, as a result of the Professional Practices process.
