Currently there is no precise and general methodology for the design of robotic arms, which leads to generate different types of designs that may not satisfactorily meet the needs that are required, so the development of a design methodology for pick and place robotic arms is proposed in order to support their manufacture, use and implementation.
For the realization of this methodology we started with a referential framework that allowed to investigate all the key concepts in the development of a methodology, in the same way to know the design methodologies currently used and to establish the components that make up a robotic arm, where from the information obtained the steps to follow the methodology for the design of pick and place robotic arms were created. In order to validate the methodology created, it is verified through the solution of three robotic arm design problems and the comparison with other design models already developed.
Finally, with the development of the proposed methodology it was possible to identify all the variables that affect the design process of a robotic arm and in this way the limitations that pick and place systems present during their implementation depending on their function to be performed or the need to be satisfied were established.
