Resumen
The purpose of this research was to understand the teaching of citizenship through a case study at the José Gabriel Carvajal García Educational Institution. The categories that guided the study were: evaluation, curriculum and teaching practice. In relation to the methodological commitment, this was based on the case study approach, through which it was sought to understand the particularities of the teaching of citizenship in the Educational Institution. Among the main findings, it was found that although the teaching of citizenship in the Institution is assumed from a Catholic humanist philosophy, it is mediated by the teaching practice, in the same way, the evaluation and teaching strategies depend on the educational level and are They govern according to textbooks and area plans, always within the framework of activities aimed at promoting student participation, although without neglecting the teacher's exercise of authority; Regarding the evaluation of learning about citizenship, this is carried out according to the teacher's criteria, always taking into account the evaluation parameters established in the institution's PEI.
