Resumen
The world health organization (WHO) presents the exponential growth of the figures for the elderly, the most important of which shows us how, between 2015 and 2050, the percentage of the planet's inhabitants over 60 years of age will almost double. Due to this, the need to assess the level of physical activity (PA) of elderly was born. The objective of this review is to present the methods for assessing the level of PA in elderly validated in Spanish and available in the scientific literature. In order to provide the necessary tools to perform the assessment of PA levels in elderly based on the available evidence. A search was carried out in databases such as academic Google, PubMed and SciELO. To determine the evaluation methods of PA in elderly; 57 articles were reviewed. After the analysis, 9 articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected to determine which of the evaluation methods was the most used, and which country contributed the most studies. Four questionnaires were found that met the necessary characteristics to assess PA level of MA, such as: GPAQ (Global Physical Activity Questionnaire), IPAQ (International Physical Activity Questionnaire), PASE (Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly), YPAS (Yale Physical Activity Survey). Evidenced that these four instruments that allow us to assess the level of PA in MA that are validated in Spanish; Likewise, the partition of countries such as Ecuador, Colombia and Chile was found. It was observed that articles referring to the evaluation of PA in elderly are scarce and more studies should be implemented in this population.
