Los límites en el acceso a la justicia de las mujeres víctimas de violencia de pareja

Abstract

Violence against women is a serious public health problem and a violation of human rights. Such acts occur mainly in the private and intimate spheres. For many years, these acts were downplayed and was not even considered a crime. Violence against women is now recognized as a crime; however, women are affected by the practical limitations that impede the effective exercise of the right to access to justice in relation to the violence that affects them. This research analyzes the limits on access to justice by women victims of abuse by their partner in Colombia. To this end, it characterizes the situation, identifies the consequences for society and describes the actions developed by Colombian policy in the face of the problem of violence against women.
