Healthy lifestyle habits are a main focus in the learning and teaching process. Its practice should be worked out since the beginning of children’s life and be included in the daily tasks of the educational institutions. This is the principal reason to be taken into account for this investigation with students of third grade of primary of the Leonardo Posada Pedraza School, located in Bosa; with the objective to apply learning units directed to modify and promote students’ healthy lifestyles habits, based on studies made in Spain, Ecuador and Colombia, in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO); and guided by curriculum guidelines of Ministerio de Educación Nacional for Physical education in primary school and initial education. Learning units are a methodological strategy that lets create and conduct to the daily life a concept since the development of different cognitive processes; considering the Teaching for Understanding pedagogical model in its different stages: previous knowledge exploration, guided investigation and final synthesis project. This strategy allows promote clear objectives, explore different didactical strategies, promote mainstreaming of expertise and apply a frequent evaluation and self-evaluation. In this investigation, the physical education links different knowledge areas that enables transversely nature and develops in students’ progress of strengths and skills. As learnings achieved are: the importance of physical activity, improve eating habits, the lunch bag menu, creativity, body expression, self-care, group work, fine and gross motor skills, space location, coordination, laterality, balance, senses, human body and sicknesses prevention to early age (among others).
