The older adult population is increasing, by the year 2050 it is expected to go from 10% to 21%. The most prevalent difficulties are anxiety and depression; Current resources are limited for brief and effective care. Repetitive negative thinking (RNT) has been identified as a trans-diagnostic process in emotional disorders that can be an appropriate treatment target. The study evaluated the effect of a brief RNT-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy protocol adapted to the characteristics of the older adult population on the anxious and depressive symptomatology of 4 participants through a concurrent multiple baseline design between subjects. The protocol showed high efficacy in anxiety and depressive symptoms, psychological inflexibility, participation in RNT, cognitive fusion, increase in valuable actions and the frequency of relevant behaviors with clinical changes and very large effect sizes.
