Reprobación escolar en grado sexto : un estudio de caso desde las percepciones de los estudiantes

Abstract

"Nuestra investigación surge del interés de comprender el fenómeno de la reprobación escolar en grado sexto desde las percepciones de los estudiantes, teniendo en cuenta que son ellos quienes la padecen y a quienes no se les ha dado la voz, de modo que se establezcan acciones para contrarrestar el fenómeno. Para el desarrollo de la investigación hemos usado la metodología de estudio de casos y el grupo focal y entrevista semiestructurada como estrategia de recolección de información, puesto que este permite profundizar en este fenómeno. Mediante triangulación se contrastó los resultados obtenidos con la teoría existente, donde se realizaron varios hallazgos: la reprobación escolar no necesariamente genera exclusión, las relaciones sociales del estudiante se ven afectadas, las causas de la reprobación son asociadas a él mismo, la construcción de su propio concepto es negativo luego de esta experiencia, pero que a su vez permite ver la reprobación como una posibilidad de cambio, el nivel de escolarización de los padres es determinante en la ocurrencia del fenómeno y la transición de primaria a secundaria es un cambio drástico para el estudiante. De acuerdo a estos hallazgos, se concluye que la reprobación escolar abordada desde el mismo estudiante permite entender las causas y consecuencias que generan el fenómeno y abre las puertas a nuevas investigaciones que permitan entender el problema desde diferentes actores y plantear posibles soluciones a los resultados obtenidos, ya que la escuela no ha logrado desde sus planteamientos mitigar el hecho de la reprobación."--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.

"Our research arises from the interest of understanding the phenomenon of sixth-grade school failure from the perceptions of students, taking into account that they are the ones who suffer from it and who have not been given the voice, so that actions are established to counteract The phenomenon. For the development of the research we have used the case study methodology and the focus group and semi-structured interview as a strategy for gathering information, since this allows us to deepen into this phenomenon. By means of triangulation, the results obtained were compared with the existing theory, where several findings were made: the school failure does not necessarily generate exclusion, the student-s social relationships are affected, the causes of the reprobation are associated to him, the construction of his own concept is negative after this experience, but that in turn allows to see the reprobation as a possibility of change, the level of schooling of parents is determinant in the occurrence of the phenomenon and the transition from primary to secondary is a drastic change for the student. According to these findings, it is concluded that school failure approached by the student allows understanding the causes and consequences that generate the phenomenon and opens the door to new research that allows understanding the problem from different actors and propose possible solutions to the results obtained , since the school has not achieved from its approaches to mitigate the fact of the reprobation."--Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.
