dc.description.abstractEste trabajo busca estudiar si el Programa de Alimentación Escolar (PAE), a través de la entrega de alimentos, ha tenido un impacto en las expectativas de ingreso a la educación superior de sus beneficiarios. El PAE suministra un complemento alimentario a los niños, niñas y adolescentes (NNA) que están matriculados en el sistema educativo público con el objetivo de promover el acceso y la permanencia escolar. La focalización del programa busca atender a comunidades rurales, étnicas, víctimas del conflicto y poblaciones con alta concentración de pobreza, lo cual significa la mayoría de la población que accede al programa son hogares vulnerables y con reducidos niveles de ingreso. Según la evidencia, los niños y adolescentes pertenecientes a hogares pobres y de bajo estrato socioeconómico tienen bajas expectativas educativas para el futuro. Los canales a través de los cuales el PAE buscar lograr sus objetivos podrían también conducir a mejorar las expectativas educativas. Los resultados indican que el PAE tiene un impacto positivo y significativo sobre las expectativas educativas a obtener educación superior. En el caso de la estimación por emparejamiento exacto el programa aumenta entre 0,042 y 0.062 desviaciones estándar las expectativas y, por la metodología de emparejamiento por propensity score, el efecto del programa en las expectativas es de 0.018 a 0.027 desviaciones estándar.
