This degree project deals with how to define, address, and propose alternatives to the problems of a community that is strongly linked to the San Silvestre swamp and the city of Barrancabermeja (Santander), which entails several challenges as it means defining and identifying a multidimensional problem in which a social and ecological system (disturbed by various factors that lead to a loss of socio-ecological resilience) is connected. For this purpose, the conceptual framework of the Intergovernmental Scientific-Regulatory Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is adapted. It also implies understanding a community in which the artisanal fishing way of life predominates (Antonio Nariño settlement) and a biodiverse and amphibious territory traditionally segregated (urban-rural border of Barrancabermeja). Amphibia is understood as a process that includes understanding the territory as a socio-ecological system, with social and ecological attributes that must remain over time and be restored, including a previous valuation. It also proposes methods that allow involving the communities that inhabit it and the local knowledge in the decision-making process concerning their habitat and ways of life, whose ultimate goal is to propose Nature-based Solutions (SbN, in Spanish) to solve the multiple socio-ecological problems in which natural and social capitals are the main elements.
