Through an exploratory study in three private administration faculties in the city of Medellin, it was investigated the possibility of using the methodology of cases as a pedagogical strategy in teaching / learning processes, in order to know the teachers' assessment of its benefits, its added value, its flaws and the critics that generate debate around the topic -- Between December 2017 and March 2018 the professors of the three private faculties best ranked in the last decade were interviewed, and it was found various assessments according to each studied faculty -- In the analysis of results, three categories were classified: limitations or training, contexts and realities, and purpose of the methodology of cases -- Testimonies allow to glimpse, at the same time, the need to create an observatory of production and analysis in the Colombian context of the methodology of cases, the advances, the successes, the difficulties and also the failures
