This work analyzes the evolution of the mortality rate and education in Colombia departmentally during the second half of the 20th century from a long-term perspective. For this, descriptive statistics are used of variables such as urbanization, health, labor market and violence, and it is complemented with a preliminary econometric exercise. It is concluded that higher educational levels, mainly of primary and secondary education, translate in a reduction of the mortality rate departmentally for Colombia during the period of 1951-2018.
