This paper provides an analysis about the demographic outlook in the Department of Antioquia y last fifty years of the twentieth century. It is specifically studied the evolution of the birth rate and its relationship with women educational levels. Descriptive statistics about urbanization, salubrity, working market, marital status and culture are used to do so. The analysis is complemented by an econometric exercise. The results display that the higher the women educational level, it seems to have diminished the number of children per woman in Antioquia in the last fifty years of the twentieth century.
