dc.description.abstractPantalla (1953-1969) was a weekly newspaper from Medellín, specialized in entertainment, popular music and cinema. Founded by Oscar García and Carlos Piedrahíta, it arose in the workshops of El Colombiano. Pantalla it is part of the Patrimonial Room of the Luis Echavarría Villegas Library of the EAFIT University. Through Pantalla, processes of mediation of popular music and cultures of musical consumption are analyzed in the mid-20th century in Medellín and Latin America, focused on cinema, radio and the record industry. The work seeks to reconstruct networks of actors and the role that the media, agents, and institutions played in relation to the cultures of consumption of popular music in Medellín through the mass media and the music industry.
