En este artículo se hace una revisión acerca de las consecuencias emocionales para aquellos que padecen cáncer y cómo éstas se relacionan con la calidad de vida de los mismos. Asimismo, se discuten las estrategias de afrontamiento como recurso psicológico para hacerle frente a la enfermedad. Aunque la vivencia de la enfermedad es diferente para cada una de las personas que la padecen, se han descubierto relaciones positivas entre ciertas estrategias utilizadas y la calidad de vida, proporcionando así una mirada más holista del cáncer en la vida de las personas.
