Propuesta de mejoramiento en el proceso de entrada y salida de vehículos de carga en la Zona Franca del Pacífico S.A

Abstract

This project is based on fundamental tools of the industrial engineer, with the objective of improving an operative process of the Colombian company Zona Franca del Pacífico S.A. located in Palmira, Valle del Cauca. The improvement proposal seeks to increase the attention capacity of the process of entry and exit of cargo vehicles, which is one of the main functions of the Operator User of the Pacific Free Trade Zone, through the study of work, simulation of discrete and continuous processes using the Promodel® software and the cost-benefit analysis to evaluate financially the possible results of the implementation of the improvement. The project was carried out with the support of the company and the guide of the director of operations, the result of the simulation concluded an estimated increase of 54% in the capacity of attention of entry and exit of cargo vehicles with a total of 6 improvements for implement, 3 of them with a low investment cost (about COP $ 5 million as initial investment and COP 1.5 million fixed cost) resulting in a proposal endorsed by the steering committee and implemented obtaining the expected results
