Resumen
The Violet xR project aims to develop a multimedia experience based on xR that increases the motivation of students about their learning process in the subject of Multimedia Systems Architecture. This is because students become unmotivated in the face of the course methodology and have difficulty in assuming the dynamics of active learning that arise in it.
The project was carried out based on the iterative methodology MPIu+a. During the analysis, the student profile was specified as a user of the system, the deployment context of Violet xR was detailed and the requirements on which it was designed and evaluated through prototypes were established.
The result obtained includes a Web application in Augmented Reality (RA), an avatar called Violet that serves as a user guide and some markers as a physical element activating the RA. The scope of the designed experience is limited by the creation of a single study content related to telecommunications in a multimedia system, the above to guarantee proof of the purpose of the application.
For the evaluation of the functionality, 3 tests were carried out, the first dedicated to the understanding of the interaction with 11 people, the second and third were formal experiments on the integrity of the application with 14 and 16 students respectively. In spite of the challenges assumed with these technologies, the tests allowed to demonstrate that students present motivational evidence about the use of this type of systems, for which reason, a set of future works with a greater degree of scope were raised
