Vegetable oil is used daily in households, mainly for frying processes, which causes the oil to undergo changes and chemical alterations, which make it necessary for it to be discarded. The poor disposal of this waste creates a great problem both environmental and health, since, when discharged into water sources or sewer systems, large amounts of water are contaminated. There are currently used cooking oil posters, which are responsible for collecting the oils used in the cooking of food in the domestic fields, centers and institutions, hospitality and other establishments, which puts people's health at risk.
The implementation of new practices is necessary for the use of waste such as used cooking oil (ACU) which is converted into raw material for the production mainly of biodiesel and biogas, generating economic activity and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. This project discusses strategies for designing an orange point for ACU collection in the university community, as well as the one that is collected in coffee shops, to continue to value waste within the UAO's Sustainable Campus policy .
In turn, it seeks to determine what are the main characteristics of the ACU collected in the orange point and coffee shops, especially in quantity, color, presence of solids, acidity, calorific potential and humidity, to determine from the point of view cultural how this oil is used. It is noteable, that the more the oil is used without changing it and at the higher temperature, the greater the decomposition, which is noticeable in a greater acidity. And finally, observe how changes in the quality of the oil used collected can affect biodiesel production.
As a view to the problem surrounding the poor disposal of waste oils, the present work sought the recovery of this waste, which affects with its shedding the quality of water and its marketing on the illegal market, in a way that is dangerous for the health of people, in order to be used in the production of biodiesel. Energy that will be used in the university to reduce the consumption of diesel in the tractor and in the emergency power plants in the San Fernando headquarters, collected by means of the orange dot that was implemented in the facilities of the latter
