La educación formal de las mujeres ha sido tardía y, más tardía aún, la educación superior. Se puede decir, entonces, que ellas se han convertido en las recién llegadas a las casas de altos estudios debido a que se han incorporado masivamente recién a lo largo del siglo XX. En el caso de nuestro país, las primeras universitarias se graduaron a fines del siglo XIX y provenían del campo de las ciencias y fueron, en su mayoría, médicas. Aunque las mujeres se han sumado a los espacios científicos, en general, y a la medicina, en particular, cabe hacer algunas reflexiones sobre el camino recorrido y el que todavía falta transitar.Formal education of women is of late date and higher education even later. It can be said that women are late arrivals at the centers of high studies. This is due to the fact that they have massively been incorporated just during the 20th century. In the case of our country, Argentina, the first university graduates occurred at the end of the 19th century in the field of science and, in the majority, of medicine.
