dc.descriptionγ Velorum fué anunciada por Moore como una estrella de velocidad radial variable. Material tomado en Bosque Alegre en 1950, 1951 y 1958, muestra un espectro B3 V con indicios de la existencia de efecto de dilución y sugiere una curva de velocidades que es característica de aquellos sistemas binarios en que existen corrientes gaseosas. Dado que siempre se ha encontrado que estos fenómenos están confinados en la región del plano de la órbita, el período que se ha derivado, del orden de 1,5 días y la amplitud obtenida, indicarían que nos hallamos en presencia de un sistema en que por lo menos la masa de una de las componentes no sería normal.
dc.descriptionγ Velorum had been announced by Moore as having variable radial velocity. Spectrograms taken at Bosque Alegre in 1950, 1951 and 1958, show spectral features which suggest a spectral type B3 V and display a slight evidence for dilution effect. The velocity curve obtained is characteristic of binary systems with gaseous streams. Since these phenomena appear to be confined to the region of the orbital plane, the derived period (of the order of 1.5 days) and amplitude suggest that we are dealing with a system which is peculiar at least in the mass of one of the components.
