In this photograph of War Memorial Park, known by nationals as “Memorial Park”, a vibrant scarlet, ornamental Flamboyant, other trees and the park’s modestly designed black and white fence, frame the war monument at the centre of the park. The sky is clear and blue and there are mountains in the distance. This majestic monument was placed here, in Port of Spain, in honour of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who served and died in World Wars I and II, 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.
