dc.description.abstract | London has never seen or heard anything like the Trinidad Steelband at the Festival of Britain. Eleven young Trinidadians drew a crowd of Festival of Britain visitors and held them fascinated by the astonishingly melodic rhythms they charmed from battered old oil drums and cans. The concert was so successful that the musical director of a large London Hotel booked an option on the orchestra's services for two weeks. | |
