dc.description.abstract | The postcard shows the Bird of Paradise Island, Tobago. This is a little island located about 3 km off the eastern side of Tobago. In 1909, an Englishman, Sir William Ingram decided to create a sanctuary for one of the species of the Bird of Paradise. In 1929 the island was declared a natural sanctuary. However, persons are allowed to visit the island to conduct scientific research or as a tourist, and must be accompanied by a guide. | |
