¿Prótesis para la inmortalidad? Reflexiones en torno al código técnico de la biomedicalización del envejecimiento

Abstract

Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar críticamente la dimensión tecnológica de la medicalización del envejecimiento en el contexto de la biopolítica contemporánea. La tesis central defendida postula el carácter político del diseño de tecnologías antiage y proage y de la construcción de conocimiento científico-biomédico sobre el proceso de envejecimiento a fin de regularlo y postergarlo. La estrategia argumentativa se desarrolla en cuatro secciones. Primero, se despliega una reflexión filosófica sobre las tecnologías antiage y proage. Segundo, se desarrolla una tipología de sistemas tecnológicos antienvejecimiento y prolongevidad con sustento en una indagación empírica. Tercero, se propone el concepto de cultura tecnológica de la biomedicalización del envejecimiento para señalar la creación de rasgos socioculturales en torno a tales sistemas tecnológicos. Por último, en las reflexiones finales se elabora el concepto de código técnico de la biomedicalización del envejecimiento como categoría analítica que alude a la direccionalidad y el sentido político de las tecnologías antiage y proage.

The goal of this article is to develop a critical reflection of the technological dimension of the biomedicalization of aging in the context of contemporary biopolitics. The main thesis stated in this article postulates the political character of the antiage and proage technologies and of the construction of scientific biomedical knowledge about the aging process with the purpose of regulating it and hold it back. The argumentative strategic is developed in four sections. Firstly, we develop a philosophical reflection of antiage and proage technologies. Secondly, we construct a typology of antiaging and prolongevity technological systems based on an empiric inquiry. Thirdly, the concept of technological culture of the biomedicalization of aging is proposed in order to point out the creation of sociocultural features about such technological systems. Finally, we propound the concept of a technical code of biomedicalization of aging as an analytical category showing the political sense and direction of antiage and proage technologies.
