Actitud ante la hepatitis B en pediatría.

Abstract

RESUMEN Las hepatitis virales son la enfermedad hepática crónica más frecuente en niños y adultos. Su incidencia varía dependiendo del área geográfica y es influenciada por aspectos socioeconómicos, condiciones higiénicas, costumbres y medidas preventivas. La severidad de estas infecciones difiere entre los países o comunidades, probablemente dependiente de la existencia de diferencias en el genotipo viral, en el estado nutricional, la coexistencia de otras infecciones, los tóxicos ambientales u otras enfermedades en estos niños. SUMMARY Viral hepatitis are the most frequent chronic liver diseases in children and adults. The incidence varies depending on the geographic area, and is influenced by socioeconomic aspects, hygiene, customs, and prevention. The severity of these infections defers between countries or communities, probably depending on the existence of differences in the viral genotype, of the nutricional state, the coexistence of other infections, environmental toxics or other diseases in those children.
