| dc.description.abstract | El informe de políticas sobre Manejo Sostenible de Tierras (MST) forma parte del conjunto de productos del Proyecto “Evaluación de la Degradación de las Tierras Secas (LADA)”. Su propósito, es poner en evidencia la capacidad de los métodos LADA para proporcionar información útil a la toma de decisiones dentro del proceso de reversión de la degradación de la tierra y la implementación de prácticas de MST. Refleja la realidad del país y de la sub región de Mesoamérica y el Caribe, de la cual Cuba funge como País Piloto y ha sido elaborado a partir de la información manejada y producida durante el transcurso del proyecto, de los materiales y fuentes oficiales e informaciones publicadas. El informe incluye una breve introducción que resume las fortalezas del proyecto y los resultados más relevantes alcanzados, una caracterización del contexto sub regional de Centroamérica y el Caribe; se extiende en la descripción del contexto nacional así como en los principales productos derivados del Proyecto LADA puestos a disposición de los decisores. Finalmente, unas breves conclusiones darán las pautas para la implementación de los resultados a todos los niveles de actividad local, nacional y sub regional. Esta distribución de contenidos responde a lo solicitado por la coordinación Global del proyecto para todos los países pilotos. Es necesario significar que para Cuba, el Proyecto LADA iniciado en 2007 constituyó una herramienta deseable para fortalecer el sistema de monitoreo y evaluación de las tierras con un enfoque actualizado y a su vez, potenciando y haciendo uso de toda la información disponible en el País como resultado de más de 40 años de investigación científica e innovación tecnológica. The policy report on Sustainable Land Management (MST) is part of the product set of the Project "Assessment of Land Degradation (LADA)". Its purpose is to demonstrate the capacity of LADA methods to provide useful information for decision making within the process of reversion of land degradation and the implementation of SLM practices. It reflects the reality of the country and of the sub-region of Mesoamerica and the Caribbean, of which Cuba serves as a Pilot Country and has been prepared from the information handled and produced during the course of the project, from official materials and sources and information published The report includes a brief introduction that summarizes the strengths of the project and the most relevant results achieved, a characterization of the sub-regional context of Central America and the Caribbean; it is extended in the description of the national context as well as in the main products derived from the LADA Project made available to the decision-makers.
