| dc.description.abstract | A lo largo del siglo XX, el turismo como actividad económica fue asentándose y consolidándose paulatinamente, y en el último decenio evidenció su pujanza y fuerte posicionamiento a nivel mundial, lo que se deriva así mismo, de la situación ventajosa que mostraron las diversas áreas de desarrollo definidas. En esos resultados se expresan además, de forma indirecta, los avances del mundo contemporáneo en materia de transporte, comunicación e información, que han venido acortando el espacio físico entre naciones. Hay que significar sin embargo, la alta sensibilidad que la actividad muestra ante eventos conflictivos como guerras, desastres naturales, epidemias, recesión e inestabilidad económica.
