Coloración del pliegue gular en Anolis (Sauria: Iguanidae)

Abstract

Entre los animales que mejor ejemplifican la comunicación visual están los lagartos de la familia Iguanidae. Muchas de sus especies tienen estructuras y colores llamativos en combinación con patrones conductuales diversos. Dentro de los iguánidos, los lagartos del género Anolis son los de mayor irradiación adaptativa en Cuba y el Caribe. Poseen excelente vista, con una gama cromática que se extiende hasta el ultravioleta; un rasgo característico del género, es el pliegue gular, órgano especializado para la comunicación visual, presente sobre todo en aquellos que viven en los bosques, donde no son fáciles de distinguir dentro del follaje. Among the animals that best exemplify visual communication are the lizards of the Iguanidae family. Many of its species have striking structures and colors in combination with diverse behavioral patterns. Within the iguanids, the lizards of the genus Anolis are the ones with the greatest adaptive radiation in Cuba and the Caribbean. They have an excellent view, with a color range that extends to the ultraviolet; A characteristic feature of the genus, is the gular fold, specialized organ for visual communication, present mainly in those who live in the forests, where they are not easy to distinguish within the foliage.
