O processo de urbanização paulista: a medicina e o crescimento da cidade moderna

Abstract

Based on the transformations occurred in medical attendance in the hospitals of the Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo, between the last years of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, this article intends to argue some of the characteristics of the relations between health and illness in the process of urbanization of the city.

Com base nas transformações ocorridas no atendimento médico realizado nos hospitais da Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo, entre fins do século XIX e início do século XX, este artigo pretende discutir algumas das características das relações entre saúde e doença no processo de urbanização da cidade.
