El rock gótico y su identificación social. Quito 2008-2012

Abstract

En la presente investigación de sociología, se analizan las características de identidad de la tribu gótica en Quito, para ello, se toma como punto de partida el incendio en la discoteca Factory, durante el concierto Ultratumba 2008. Se exploran los espacios de filosofía, lenguajes, simbologías, consumo, vestuario, moda, maquillaje de la tribu gótica, así como sus rituales. De igual manera, se describen (y distinguen) comportamientos y creencias que los diferencia que los diferencian del resto de tribus urbanas. Se resaltan algunos símbolos artísticos dentro del cine, literatura, música y arquitectura que han influenciado en el rock gótico local: producción artística que es un aporte cultural a esta sociedad pese a diversas discriminaciones hacia la tribu. Para el trabajo se realizó una consulta bibliográfica para precisar el marco teórico, así como la investigación directa con actores del mundo gótico: se implementó una encuesta, complementada luego con la entrevista a líderes del grupo. Se analizan temas escogidos de canciones y algunos poemas de la corriente gótica. La inserción social de esta tribu da pasos pequeños pero constantes con aportes al desarrollo cultural auténtico.

The current sociology investigation analyzes identity characteristics of the gothic tribe in Quito. Fire occurred in Factory disco during an Ultratumba 2008 concert was taken as a reference. Philosophy, languages, symbols, consumption, clothes, fashion, make-up of the gothic tribe were considered, as well as rituals. Likewise, behaviors and beliefs distinguishing from the rest of urban tribes are described and distinguished. Several artistic symbols from the movies, literature, music and architecture that have influenced on the local gothic rock are highlighted: artistic production, which is a cultural contribution to the society in spite of the discrimination exercised toward the tribe. For the current work, a bibliographic consultation was conducted in order to establish a theoretical frame, as well as direct investigation with stakeholders of the gothic world. A survey was implemented, that was complemented afterward with an interview with the group leaders. Selected songs and poems from the gothic current were analyzed. Social insertion of the tribe is taking small but constant steps toward a true cultural development.
