| dc.description | La Provincia Jesuítica del Paraguay fue fundada en 1604 y a partir de 1609 comenzó la fundación de las misiones en el Guayrá. Esta región de frontera, perteneciente al Imperio español según el Tratado de Tordesillas, se convirtió en una zona de fricción entre los intereses territoriales de España y Portugal desde el momento en que la expansión portuguesa hacia el oeste se hizo manifiesta.
En este artículo intentaremos dar cuenta de algunos antecedentes de las misiones con que contaba la Compañía de Jesús y que pudieron influir en la fundación de las del Paraguay. | |
| dc.description | The Jesuit Province of Paraguay was founded in 1604 and from 1609 the foundation of the Guayrá missions began. This border region, which belonged to the Spanish Empire according to the Tordesillas Treaty, became a friction zone between the territorial interests of Spain and Portugal since the portuguese expansion to the west became obvious.
In this article we will try to show some antecedents about missions which the Jesuit Order knew and that could have influenced the foundation of the Paraguayan ones. | |
