Resumen
Ecological awareness, environmental protection, social justice and concern for future generations are directly related to the way that companies process their products and services. In this process, the retail growth results in the diversification of the sector in order to meet the needs of consumers and their level of demand. Thus, this research aims to analyze how the practice of reverse logistics in the retail supermarket can provide environmental gains by quantifying the volume of cardboard and plastic, rather than being discarded in landfills, return the production chain by the Logistics Process reverse. In order to analyze the environmental gain, Wuppertal Institute proposes a method that quantifies the amount of air and water which were not contaminated by waste produced by these companies via biotic and abiotic material. In this research was raised the volume of waste recycled by a large supermarket and it was noted that the practice of reverse logistics becomes the obvious environmental benefits. Whereas the retail searched is part of a large retail chain that operates in the Brazilian market, the results show that reverse logistics is a practice that adds value and creates sustainability in the chain and other processes linked to it.
