Resumen
The present article aims to discuss and think about school cartography and geographical education in the present by means of artistic practices carried out during a seminar in the Graduate Program in Geography at UNESP-Rio Claro in 2012. In the condition of a student in the course, the author of this paper was able to experiment the potential of approaching art and cartography, taking a chance as a cartographer-artist/artist-cartographer in order to propagate new thoughts about maps and its educational and geographical forms in the present-day world. Using three artistic works produced during the seminar as axis, the text seeks to establish bridges between cartography and the contemporary school curriculum, based on authors such as Seemann (2012), Oliveira Jr. (2012), Pickles (2004) and others. Thus, the article discusses new outlines that maps could acquire through art and new technologies, and possible unfoldings for the classroom. In its conclusion, the text points out the importance of creating new lines of study to reinvent space and the ways to teach it.
