Resumen
This article presents results of the master's research entitled Partnerships between the public and the private in the provision of early childhood education in medium-sized municipalities of Sao Paulo, whose main objective was to analyze the different institutional arrangements signed between the municipal government and private institutions to the educational provision of early childhood education in the whole medium-sized municipalities of Sao Paulo (50001-100000 inhab.). This study is part of research carried out by the Studies and Research in Educational Policy Group. Within the data collection process, the telephone contacts were the main strategy to access the municipalities. The results indicate that the treatment of early childhood education through partnership with the private sector is a kind of exit to meet the high demand. Thus, their long-term effects for those advocating an imminently public education are worrying, which cannot go unnoticed to the new National Education Plan.
