The feather mite genus Protonyssus Trouessart (Xolalgidae: Ingrassiinae) has included four species associated with Neotropical and Old World parrots. In this article, two new species are described from Brazilian parakeets: Protonyssus mironovi sp. nov. from Psittacara leucophthalmus (Statius Muller, 1776), and P. athoracicus sp. nov. from Brotogeris chiriri (Vieillot, 1818) (Psittaciformes: Psittacidae). A key to species of the genus Protonyssus is presented.
