dc.description.abstractThis article focus on issues related to archival-musical heritage in Brazil, taking as sampling the research in custodial institutions in approximately seventy cities. One has to question which situations collection of musical sources written in Brazilian archives, the specificities of these sources, the identity of the musicological know-how and possible interfaces between musicology and other areas responsible for safeguarding of cultural heritage. Memory and identity concepts in Joel Candau, the affordance of cultural heritage, and the existing literature on musical archival science and related fields are hired. The results point to the existence of peculiarities of the information contained in the musical sources which puts to test any expectation of orthodox application of archival theory to them.
