Resumen
The law no 9.795/99 regulates the National Environmental Education Policy and determines its insertion in every level of the educational system. However, after all these years, a lot of studies have indicated this insertion is still fragile. Our analysis understands this fragility is a result of some misconceptions, especially regarding the lack of efforts to its insertion in the school curriculum. Taking the curricular insertion as starting point for Environmental Education at schools, we consider the initial education of teachers in college education institutions as one of the guidelines to the National Environmental Education Policy based on the specific legislation. Thus, we aim to discuss this teacher education as National Environmental Education Policy as an objective requirement to contribute on this tough process.
