| dc.description | RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo se señala la captura de dos individuos (hembras adultas) de Avicularia velutina Simon,
1889 en hábitat antrópico rural, en la localidad de Amanita (10º15’N; 63º40’O; 590 m de altitud), municipio
Ribero, estado Sucre, Venezuela. Los ejemplares se capturaron manualmente, en horario diurno, en marzo de
2005 y fueron trasladados al laboratorio, donde se ubicaron en terrarios independientes, para la observación
de sus características morfológicas externas. El territorio de captura posee una vegetación de bosque húmedo
premontano, fuertemente intervenido, y un período lluvioso que abarca desde junio hasta fi nales de octubre. El
hallazgo de estos artrópodos en el domicilio antrópico puede ocasionar molestias dermatológicas a las personas (o
a los animales domésticos) por las setas urticantes que posee este taxón. ABSTRACT: This paper reports on two adult female spiders, Avicularia velutina Simon, 1889, captured in a rural habitat in
Amanita (10º15’N; 63º40’W; 590 m.a.s.l), Ribero municipality of the state of Sucre, Venezuela. The spiders were
caught by hand during the day in March 2005, brought to the laboratory, and placed in independent terrariums
in order to observe their external morphological characteristics. The territory where they were caught features a
premontane humid forest, strongly affected by human interaction and a rain period from June till the end of October.
These arthropods can cause skin rashes to both human beings and domestic animals owing to their irritant hairs. | |
