Abstract

The vision from the urban planner builds (almost always) the history of the city from the physical transformation; this operation does not know in most cases the practices of use and appropriation of the space that come with the change and that give meaning to a real and complete image of the city.

The street -as an urban fact-, could be defined as the structure that supports the mat of the city and therefore the witness that witnesses the image that transcends time, styles or ideologies and that is present in buildings; but also of the interactions that in the way of "patchworks" build the history of everyday life. This is the fundamental purpose of this document: the construction of a street story from space and its practices; from urban transformation and buildings to subjects and events. This document is the biographical account of 19th Street.
