dc.descriptionEn la cultura originaria Pemón, cuerpo y alma pertenecen a la naturaleza. Es decir, cuerpo (esak) o la substancia material (pun) es la “casa”. Dentro de esta casa se encuentra el segundo atributo básico de todos los seres vivientes, que éllos describen como la fuerza, el poder de vida. Esta fuerza o energía (meruntö) es una fuerza vital cósmica, que proviene de los rayos del sol (wei), según Butt Colson y De Armellada, (1990). En el marco de estas premisas y anclado en los aportes teóricos y herramientas conceptuales provenientes de los estudios que privilegian la antropología del cuerpo y la etnografía de la oralidad, se desarrolla este ensayo con el objetivo de tener una aproximación al sistema de creencias del pueblo Pemón vinculado conceptualmente al cuerpo en su connotación mítica; es decir, la relación entre la trilogía: naturaleza, cuerpo y mitología (cantos Chamánicos o tarén).

dc.descriptionFor Greek civilization, the body represented an issue of beauty. For medieval Christianity, a source of abomination, that is, the sinful flesh imprisoning the soul. For Cartesian theorists, the body was a perfect machine. For the Pemon native people, body and soul, belong to Nature. Under the latter assumption and anchored in the theoretical and conceptual tools from studies that emphasize body anthropology and ethnography of orality, this essay is developed in order to have an approximation to the belief system of the Pemon people, who are conceptually linked to the body in its mythical connotations, ie the relationship between the trilogy: nature, body and mythology (shaman chants or taren).
