El acuerdo de Asociación entre Centroamérica (CA) y la Unión Europea (UE) contiene tres pilares: diálogo político, cooperación y comercio. Nicaragua presenta el menor volumen de intercambio comercial con el viejo continente. Políticamente, Europa ha sido un acompañante muy importante para asentar las bases de la paz y la democracia en la región. Las relaciones de cooperación entre la ue y Nicaragua datan desde hace más de tres décadas. En el presente trabajo se analizan los principales resultados de la negociación del Acuerdo de Asociación (AdA) entre la Unión Europea y Centroamérica.
