dc.descriptionEn los criaderos de trucha arco iris (Oncorhynchus mykiss) la producción de suficiente semen, de buena calidad, juega un papel fundamental, debido a que los rendimientos óptimos de fertilización para la generación de ovas embrionadas depende del éxito que estos tengan para alcanzar y fecundar los óvulos de manera efectiva. En el Campo Experimental Truchícola La Mucuy (CETLM) del Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agrícolas (INIA), adscrito al Ministerio del Poder Popular de Agricultura y Tierras (MPPAT), se produce semen en cantidad y calidad suficiente para cubrir la demanda y exigencias, de ovas embrionadas y alevines, de los truchicultores venezolanos. Anualmente se extrae un volumen total de 12 litros de semen de los machos reproductores de los lotes de investigación del CETLM. Con esto se fertiliza cerca de un millón de ovas producidas por hembras reproductoras de los mismos lotes en campo, con un rendimiento de unas 655.000 ovas embrionadas.

dc.descriptionIn hatcheries of the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), the production of enough semen of good quality plays a fundamental role, since optimum yields of fertilization for the generation of fertilized eggs depends on the success that the sperms have to reach and fertilize the eggs effectively. In La Mucuy Experimental Trout Field (CETLM), a dependence of the National Institute of Agricultural Research of the Ministry of Popular Power of Agriculture and Lands (MPPAT), semen is produced in sufficient quantity and quality to cover the demand and requirements of fertilized eggs and alevins of Venezuelan trout farmers. A total of 12 liters of semen is extracted annually from the breeding males kept in the experimental batch of breeders of CETLM. About one million eggs produced by breeding females of the same batch in the field, with a capacity of about 655,000 fertilized eggs.
