| dc.description | Los maestros artesanos fueron un importante sector de la sociedad colonial merideña durante las primeras dos centurias coloniales. La destreza de los artífices se logró gracias a un largo periodo de enseñanza aprendizaje, seguido de la práctica constante, al cabo de las cuales les permitieron alcanzar el rango de maestros, la más alta calificación jerárquica que podían obtener, y con ello se le permitía regentar una tienda, un taller o disponer de una herrería. En ese sentido, en la presente investigación se estudian los perfiles personales de los maestros artesanos que laboraron en Mérida, durante los siglos XVI y XVII. La pesquisa se dirige a conocer su perfil personal, formación y desempeño profesional, el estudio se asienta en la información obtenida de la documentación original que se conserva en el Archivo General del Estado Mérida fundamentalmente sobre las escribanías españolas, en los fondos Protocolos y Mortuorias; al igual que los que se resguardan en el Archivo General de Indias (Sevilla-España) y el Archivo General de la Nación de Santa Fe de Bogotá (Colombia) que permiten conocer el devenir de las vida de los artesanos durante los primeros dos siglos coloniales. | |

| dc.description | Abstract: The master craftsmen were an important sector of the Mérida colonial society during the first two colonial centuries. The skill and expertise of the architects were achieved through a long period of teaching and learning, followed by long period of constant practice, after which enabled them to reach the rank of teachers, the highest hierarchical rating they could get, and it allowed them to operate a store, a workshop or a blacksmith. In that sense, this project explores the personal profi les of master craftsmen who worked in Mérida in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The research is aimed to meet their training, professional performance and family environment. And it sits on the information obtained from the original documents preserved in the Mérida State General Archives, primarily on Spanish notary protocol and mortuary funds, as well as those who take shelter in the Indies General Archive (Seville, Spain) and the General Archive of the Nation of Santa Fé of Bogotá (Colombia) that provide insight into the evolution of the life of the artisans during the first two centuries of colonial rule. | |
