dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo analiza el proceso de etnogénesis, persistencia étnica y resurgimiento cultural de un grupo étnico conocido en la historiografía venezolana como los Guaiquerí, quienes desde la época precolombina han habitado en la región nororiental de Venezuela, tanto en Cumaná (Edo. Sucre) como en las islas de Margarita, Coche y Cubagua (Edo. Nueva Esparta).

dc.descriptionThe present work analyses the process of ethnogenesis, ethnic persistence and the cultural resurgence of an ethnic group known in Venezuelan historiography as the Guaiqueries who, since pre- Columbian times, have inhabited the mainland region of northeastern Venezuela as well as on the islands of Margarita, Coche and Cubagua that together make up the State of Nueva Esparta.
